First off: I love Eyes Wide Shut.... It makes me really think, in the best way possible. I think Kubrick was one of the most brilliant thinkers of our time. Every moment by each and every actor he ever worked with is nothing short of perfection. I understand that there are many who disagree with this , but I feel it nevertheless. Secondly: I am convinced that this film moved Tom and Nicole away from one another in some sense. my thoughts are vague right now about this subject, but I would love to talk about this and much more with my old friends and new alike. Saw Spiderman 2 twice. Fucking great film, just like I expected. I am waiting for The Village. My hopes are always high with one of Night's films, and seeing as how I was really torn over Signs(but absolutely adored Unbreakable), I hope he scores another artistic hit. Upcoming films that I gotta see: #1 on my list is Supect Zero. this film looks like the real thing! The Forgotten is really piqueing my interest. And Code 46 looks like the first sci-fi film in years to capture the atmospere of stuff like Blade Runner and Gattaca.

Ahh...Just finished cleaning house. Nothing like a sense of accomplishment in one's life. I seem to have procured in my time here a habitual cleansing routine. I rather like it.
Today I was informed that my grandfather(who is the only father I have ever known) may have colon cancer. This is very disheartening to me, for he is the man I have loved and idolised for all of my life. Our mortality is a profound and often personally disturbing fascination of mine. I am hoping and praying he will be alright.

Currently I am engrossed in a couple of novels, and quite a few films. I'm reading Shadow of a Broken Man by George C. Chesbro, and re-reading A Scanner Darkly by Philip K. Dick(my favorite author). I hear that Linklater, whose films I love, is working on a big screen adaptation of the latter, starring Keanu Reeves, Robert Downey Jr., and Winona Ryder. woo-hoo! That will undoubtedly rock!
I watched 21 Grams and Mullholland Drive back to back last night with my friends. I own both films, and have seen both several times, but never in the same night. Wow. Naomi Watts is just superlative to say the least.
Also re-watched Yojimbo(cue the title music in my head) and Iniana Jones 3 or as I like to call it: The one where his Dad bitches at him and he wears a tie.
Dammit, I'm ranting about film again. Oh well....

perhaps I'll have something a little more substantial to say later. =)

man....I gotta see Riddick again! It fucking rocked so hard. The more I think about it, the more I wanna see it again.
It, spidey2 and Before Sunset are the films I gotta see in the theater next month.
Before Sunset looks great. I'm a big fan of Linklater and of the first film. Go to Apple and check out the trailer if you like. It looks really cool.

I really love the movie Hudson Hawk. One of my favs from the teenage years. David caruso as Kit-kat is particularly memorable and humourous.
My mom and I saw The Chronicles of Riddick Monday and it rocked hard! One of the best sci-fi movies ever. Of course I'm a big fan of the genre anyway. Pitch Black rules, but this is more my kinda thing. Epic scale.

also, did anyone else notice that really fucked up scene at the end of Mystic River involving Sean Penn's character's wife? I would be more specific but I wouldn't want to ruin anything for anyone. just try and guess which part I mean. OK oK I'm being hideously vague. sorry. I think I need to watch the movie again. When i saw it I didn't much care for it, but my expectations were pretty high. I suppose it could have been my frame of mind.

Another week. What have I learned?
I suppose the overriding internel themes this week have been cynacism and regret. I'm really seriously suspecting that I have become too jaded in life to live with anyone else, short of someone who is retarded or brain-damaged. My cynacism and sometimes hate seems to know no boundries on certain days. I fight it with all the resources I have inside of me to do battle with. To no avail. I end up exausted and full of regret(even though it serves pratically no purpose), but maybe the struggle keeps me here.
That's another thing. Why are we here. Alive I mean. Also that assumes that you view death as actually something to fear, not merely a shifting of perception.
Personally I think we're here to repeat what we know or don't know, feel or hope to feel, etc., until we're so weighed down with all this baggage that we could never even hope to unload it and exist in peace. In this way it seeems that God or the divine has created a way of keeping most people out of his territory.
O.K. that's not really what I believe. But why not? It makes as much sense(albeit a much shorter sense) as anythimng else.

In summation, I guess its about conflict. I am, like so many others, in a war with myself. Which side should win? How many sides are there? I'm still looking for answers.
